Lucio Garofalo was born in Milan. In the early eighties he relocated to the U.S. to study cinematography and documentary filmmaking at the School of Visual Arts (SVA).
After moving to Boston in the mid-eighties, he became correspondent for the Italian architectural magazine Ottagono and trade publication Il Nuovo Cantiere,the leading construction monthly in Italy. While in Boston, he partnered with architectural firms and construction companies, documenting work sites in the city and in different locations along the East Coast.
Upon return to Italy, he continued collaboration with Il Nuovo Cantiere, becoming managing editor from 1994 to 1999. After leaving the editor's position he began consulting for press offices of major construction companies and contractors.
Since 2000 he has been a contributor to the major national and international trade publications.
During the span of his career, Lucio Garofalo has written hundreds of articles and authored many reportages which have appeared in leading magazines in the construction field. A large part of his work also includes shooting and editing of technical videos and in-house documentaries used for communications depts., conferences, trade fairs and as support to company training programs.
